Should You Care? Cultural Sensitivity, Access & Community in Care at Post-Secondary Institutions.

Sreenidhi Jaganathan, OUSA Summer 2022 Research Intern present Should You Care? Cultural Sensitivity, Access and Community in Care at Post-Secondary Institutions.

The purpose of this report is two-fold: it aims to both showcase the current status of culturally sensitive care in post-secondary institutions while also providing recommendations on how schools can improve their practices and services to ensure marginalized students have access to care that is culturally congruent and effective.

"Growing up, I was raised to believe that Canadian healthcare utilization was equitable. I held onto this belief until I got to university and was struck by the reality of how complex individual identities impact healthcare experiences through the experiences of myself and my friends. This motivated me to research and write this report regrind the topic of culturally sensitive care in a post-secondary institution based on the led experience of my peers and myself. The report is a passion project for me to look into how we can improve care services and access to these services in post-secondary institutions so that all students feel safe, welcome, and wanted." -Sreenidhi Jaganathan
